Well, it's finally been done. A brand new entertainment venue has changed the dinner theatre landscape of Edmonton. Its Spotlight Cabaret! This exciting concept combines the nostalgia of a 1920s supper club with the edgy vibe of a burlesque show lounge! AND you don't have to go to the back end of a mall to see it! Spotlight Cabaret is nestled just off of Edmonton's historic Whyte avenue, in the heart of the arts district and provides amazing atmosphere, excellent food, and top notch entertainment. It has one of the best summer patios on Whyte avenue and an entertainment lineup that has something for everyone.

The new venue is the brainchild of local entrepreneurs Amiee Beaudoin and Jeff Halaby. These professional actors turned business owners (yes that's possible) brought their vision to life, bringing a new brand of entertainment never-before-seen in the Edmonton landscape. And this is a vision of beauty.

So… what makes them so different from other dinner theatre experiences? Well first of all, quality. the whole experience feels exclusive and glamorous, bringing you back to a time of luxury and opulence. The sparkling chandeliers and beautiful hand-painted murals surround the iconic cabaret stage with its hand carved proscenium and red velvet drapes. (ps, I've never seen such a beautiful bathroom). Food options are delicious and fresh with no prime rib in sight! The cocktail menu is extensive and exciting, making you feel like you are sipping with Frank Sinatra himself! The servers are not dressed up in cheesy costumes. They are sleek, professional and attentive. You can tell this is not a big chain corporation looking for money, but industry professionals looking to bring you an authentic experience you will never forget.
The current show playing right now, "Legends of music" is being presented to sold-out houses and its no surprise. I attended the show last night and talent was beyond expectation. This amazing ensemble of four singers took us through over 50 years of music, slamming out a never ending cast of spot on celebrity impersonations. Owners/writers Jeff and Aimee were also in the show, bringing their signature off the wall humour and stand up comedy experience to the stage. The laughs were authentic and the presentation was slick! Director Trevor Schmidt was clever in his use of the small space and the arrangements/sound design by Aaron Macri was crisp and inspiring.
Karella Cummings performs “Summertime” as Elle Fitzgerald. She is also sings as Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Diana Ross.
Stage veterans Matt Andre and Karella Cummings were a perfect choices to round out this ensemble, providing singing chops and acting chops that would rival any Vegas stage! Bravo.
Matt Andre performs “Little Less Conversation” as Elvis Presley. He also performs as Prince, Buddy Holly, David Bowie and Mick Jagger.
